Launched in 2011, the Black Alumni Scholarship supports current junior and senior-level students or graduate students in their pursuit of a degree from SMU. As of noon on Monday, December 12th, we have surpassed the fundraising goal of $7,000 set by the Black Alumni of SMU Board. We are grateful to all alumni, parents and friends of the University who generously supported this important cause!
In 1952, John Weston Elliot, James Arthur Hawkins, James Vernon Lyles, Negail Rudolph Riley and Albert Cecil Williams enrolled in Perkins School of Theology, becoming the first African American students to attend SMU. Join the Black Alumni of SMU 52 Club today by making a minimum donation of $52 by midnight on Friday, December 9 and you will receive a limited-edition Black Alumni of SMU coffee mug.* With a minimum gift of $10 by this deadline, you will receive a limited-edition SMU Peruna koozie.
*The value of this giveaway item will be deducted from your gift receipt.
