The AP reports Hungarian President Pal Schmitt resigned after it was discovered he had plagiarized large parts of his doctorate dissertation 20 years ago. The former International Olympic Committee member and gold medalist in the 1968 and 1972 Olympics who’s paper was ironically about the Olympics, had served two of his five year term. The Hungarian Parliament accepted his resignation with a 338 to 5 vote. It just goes to prove in some nations, academic integrity has no statute of limitations.
