Question: How many librarians does it take to grill a hot dog?
Answer: We’re not sure yet, but we always hit it out of the ballpark.
Join us for the 6th Annual CUL Cookout and learn more about how Central University Libraries can help you with your projects, papers and research. We’re proud that our friends at SMU’s Office of Information Technology will join us again to share information about their services.
The Cookout will be located in its usual spot on the west side of Fondren Library Center. We’ll have free all-beef dogs, veggie dogs, popcorn, cookies, and refreshments while supplies last.
Planned to coincide with National Library Week, this is a great opportunity for CUL to show its appreciation to the SMU community & for students, faculty & staff to learn more about library services.
Other library happenings
Living Library: Be sure to look for the Living Library right across from the cookout. The Human Library is an innovative method designed to promote dialogue, reduce prejudices and encourage understanding. The Living Library is a mobile library set up as a space for dialogue and interaction. More information: http://smu.edu/cul/info/livinglibrary/
The Year of the Library: In 2013, as part of its Second Century Celebration, SMU is commemorating The Year of the Library, the 100th anniversary of the founding of SMU’s first library, which began in Dallas Hall in 1913. In addition to marking historic milestones, the commemoration will recognize plans to update and expand the campus libraries and open more of their priceless collections to the world.
