Tom Sheahan, Founder: Red Oxygen – developer and distributor of enterprise SMS software applications and services.

  1. Did you have a business plan, or any type of plan written down, when you started your business?  

“Kind of, we had one written with Deloitte in 2003.”

  1. Do you think business plans are necessary for entrepreneurship?  Why or why not? 

“You need to know:

  1. What are you building?
  2. Who wants to buy it? Why? What pain point are you solving?
  3. How much will it cost you to build?
  4. How much can I charge for it?
  5. How will I sell and support it?”
  1. What three pieces of advice can you offer developing creative entrepreneurs?  

“Get someone with gray hair on your board. Someone you respect professionally and personally, and listen to them.”
